Doctrinal Statement

Doctrinal Statement

“Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.” – Titus 1:9

I. THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the whole Bible is verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings, and is the supreme and final authority in faith and life. All issues of interpretation shall be determined by the Pastor. The King James Version shall be the official and only translation used by this Church.

II. THE TRUE GOD

We believe in one God eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

III. THE VIRGIN BIRTH

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Holy Spirit; that He was born of Mary, a virgin; and that He is both the Son of God, and God, the Son.

IV. THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person; that He convicts of sin, makes believers children of God through the new birth, assuring them of heaven, and by His indwelling enables Christians to live a Godly life.

V. SATAN

We believe that Satan is a person, and that Hell is a place of eternal conscious punishment for all unsaved.

VI. FALL OF MAN

We believe that man was created in innocence, but by voluntary transgression, fell from his sinless estate; the consequences of which all men are now sinners and, therefore, under the just condemnation of God.

VII. ATONEMENT FOR SIN

We believe that through His substitutionary death on the cross, Jesus Christ made atonement for all sins, once for all, and for all men.

VIII. FREENESS OF SALVATION

We believe in God’s electing grace which is according to foreknowledge that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel.

IX. JUSTIFICATION

We believe that men are justified solely by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

X. THE CHURCH

We believe that the local church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again believers, and is autonomous, being free from any external authority or control associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel, practicing Scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.

XI. ORDINANCES

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer unto the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a Scriptural ordinance of the Church to be partaken of by obedient Christians of like faith.

XII. THE RESURRECTION

We believe in a bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation.

XIII. THE ASCENSION

We believe that Jesus Christ ascended bodily into Heaven.

XIV. THE SECOND COMING

We believe that the return of the Lord will be two-fold. First, He shall appear, prior to the Tribulation, in bodily form in the air to call up to be with Himself, the believing church. The judgment of believer’s works at the Judgment Seat of Christ will then follow. Believers will then, as the Bride of Christ, go into the marriage supper of the Lamb. Second, He shall return to earth with the saints to establish His millennial kingdom at the end of the seven years’ tribulation.

XV. CIVIL GOVERNMENT

We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: (1) the home, (2) the church, and (3) the state. God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other. The home, the church, and the state are equal and sovereign in their respective Biblically assigned spheres of responsibility under God.

XVI. THE FAMILY

We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman; that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. The husband is to be the leader of the home. Parents are responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values and leading them through consistent lifestyle, example and appropriate discipline, including Scriptural corporal correction.

XVII. DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE

We believe that God disapproves of divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the Church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may not be considered for the offices of Pastor or Deacon.

XVIII. ABORTION

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder.

XIX. EUTHANASIA

We believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God.

XX. GIVING

We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to financially support his local church. We believe that God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give other offerings cheerfully to support the church, the relief of the needy, and the spread of the Gospel. We believe that a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of his tithe or offering once the gift has been made.

This Doctrinal Statement does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
